Public Budget Forum 11/17 @ 6 PM
The 2026-27 budget development process kicks off on Monday, November 17th, at 6 PM with a public budget forum. Members of the public are cordially invited to be present, either in person or via remote means, and to speak about budget priorities for the upcoming school year budget. There is no time limit on comments during the Budget Forum.
SMS Brew Crew Coffee Cart
Mr. Crug's class at SMS has started the Brew Crew, a coffee cart, providing a much needed mid-day pick me up for staff. Their goal is to create a self-sustaining business that reinforces curricular goals. The Brew Crew is focusing on important pre-vocational, social pragmatic, and math skills while spreading some caffeinated (or, if preferred, decaffeinated) joy!
Alternative Device Fair
IRL Scarsdale is sponsoring an alternative device fair for families on November 22, 2025, at the Scarsdale Public Library from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. Vendors will be demonstrating the latest kid-safe, parent-friendly phones and watches that serve as alternatives to Smartphones. Register for the event here.
Celebrate Thanksgiving Safely
The night before Thanksgiving, known as Blackout Wednesday, has become a concerning tradition marked by excessive drinking among young people, particularly college students returning home for the holiday. Unfortunately, it is also one of the deadliest nights of the year for drunk driving and alcohol-related emergencies. This Thanksgiving, the Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service and the Scarsdale Action for Youth (SAY) Coalition urge parents to discuss the risks of underage drinking with their teens and college-aged children. Conversations should address health and legal consequences, including the dangers of alcohol poisoning, sexual assault, and the use of fake IDs. Together, we can help ensure Thanksgiving is celebrated safely—around the family table, not in the emergency room. For more information, contact Scarsdale Edgemont Family Counseling Service, Scarsdale Action for Youth, or local Youth Outreach Workers.
